Beech Grove TV
BGTV is what is known as a PEG channel. PEG stands for public, educational and government access channel. BGTV began back in 1983 with two hours of monthly programming and was the only media outlet 100% dedicated to the City of Beech Grove. BGTV attended and broadcast public municipal meetings each month. Every meeting was either shown live on the channel and replayed throughout the month, or recorded and replayed. BGTV produced more than eight hours of public access programming a week, broadcasting 24-7, 365 days-a-year. The BGTV production staff produced quality, informative series for Beech Grove and Central Indiana viewers and reached over 105,000 subscribers. When programs weren't shown, BGTV displayed various city and community announcements. Groups or individuals also produced programming, having sole responsibility for content without censorship or editorial override by the government, BGTV or the cable operator.
BGTV continues to attend and broadcast Board of Sanitation, Board of Public Works and Safety, Common Council and Redevelopment Commission Meetings. BGTV also records various special meetings, public events and public announcements. These videos are digitized and uploaded to the Internet which allows the programs to be viewed on a computer.
