2008 The Beech Grove Professional Firefighter’s Association is proud to present the Public Safety Scholarship These Scholarship are made possible through the dedication of the Beech Grove Professional Firefighters Association and is intended to financially assist any student who lives in the City of Beech Grove and wishes to pursue a college education in the field of Public Safety. Public Safety education that would qualify for this scholarship include, Fire Science, Law Enforcement and any field that provides a degree, in emergency first response situation. Annual
Promoters Club Fireworks
will be July 3 at Sarah Bolton Park. Admission is free. The festivities will start at 4 p.m. with the fireworks scheduled to start around dusk. Pork chops from the Beech Grove Lions Club Texas Road House Ribs, Pizza and Hot Dogs are all for sale in the park. *SAFETY ISSUE* The Fire Department requests that no other fireworks be set off in the park by the public this evening, due to the large number of people and the safety for all. Fireworks being set off in the park may be confiscated and citations may be written per the new State Statute, this is not a designated public shoot site. See more summer safety tips |

August 1st, 2008 11th Annual Kids Fun Day at Sarah
T. Bolton Park, Noon to 4pm Each year Kids come to play and interact with the firemen for the day, while learning health and safety. FD members along with the Police, Parks Department, IPL and St. Francis Hospital, provide a fun filled day of learning. There is fun activities for all ages: kids water ball game, rope slide, dunk tank, face painting, kiddy combat challenge, fitness obstacle course, bike rodeo, moon walk, putt-putt, and our new Safety House along with others. Special appearances in the past have been by: Smokey the Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog, and Hug-A-Bug the clown. The FD Local 416 Union has food and drinks available to purchase. We want to thank Firestone Building Products at 3525 S Arlington, for sponsoring this event. September 10th, thru the 13th,
2008 City's Fall Festival on Main Street by the Promoters Club The Fire Department's Local 416 members will be cooking over a hickory fire, Pork Chops, Pork Burgers and pulled pork each night at their booth. Come by and get something to eat and support your local firefighters, proceeds go to help fund our community programs. |

Golf Outing The Beech Grove Firefighters Local 416 will be hosting a Golf Outing. It is open to the public for anyone who would like to come play golf with the firemen. Family for the Holidays 11.1.07 We will be collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations again from November 1st to the 25th, to help families in our community have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. We have partnered up with Servant's Heart of Indy and their pantry is located at 5602 Elmwood Ave, Suite 212 (just east of Expo Bowl and Great Times) When you donate food, clothing, furniture, household items, time or money, you help to ensure that a single mother can feed her children, a family will have beds and linens in which to sleep, a senior citizen is able to receive healthful and nourishing meals, a child has warm clothing to wear, as well as additional "basis necessities" that are lacking in so many local households. |

Our 2006 Annual Awards Banquet, 6pm at the Hornet Park Community Center The Fire Department and the Emergency Communications members are recognized for their efforts and accomplishments for the year. 5.3.05 The Pre-Prom at Beech Grove High School The Fire Department simulates what happens at a car accident scene, in the school parking lot, that is televised live throughout the school. Teens get a realistic look at the possible outcome if they choose to drink and drive. Someone is getting cut out of a wrecked car, then they are being packaged and put into the ambulance. This gives the teens something to think about as they go to the Prom the next evening. |

11.04 Middle School CPR
Each
year BG Middle School 8th graders go through CPR
instruction for two weeks in school. They are taught
the Heart Saver CPR in Schools Program, provided by the American Heart Association.
This program has directly resulted in lives being saved. Each link in the chain identifies an intervention to save a life: early access,

Fire Prevention Awareness for Youth,
Sunday, July 11th from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 pm Beech Grove Little League Events at Hartman Park Presented by People's Burn Foundation and the Beech Grove Fire Department Car Cruise-IN ..... presented by Lowered Horizons, and bring your own cars! Live Music .....featuring The Ann McWilliams Band. Also performing will be 16th Avenue and Sadie Hawkins Free Admission, Great Food with World Famous Rib-eye sandwiches and a Bar-B-Q Special !! 416 Pumper Pull at 5:30pm A team of Beech Grove firemen
will participate with other fire departments from across the country in a Pumper Pull competition.
This competition is hosted by the Firefighters local 416 union,
Indy Metro Fools,
and Fire Engineering. The Pumper Pull is open to all full time and volunteer
public safety employees, including law enforcement officers and fire
fighters. Indy Pumper Pull 2004 spectators are invited to watch the
competition free of charge.
The contest challenges five-person teams to use their strength and speed to pull a fire engine a designated distance for time during two separate heats. The team with the fastest total time will be awarded $500; the second place team will receive $250; and the third place team will receive $100. The Indy Pumper Pull 2004 will take place during the Indianapolis Metropolitan Firefighters Union Local 416 Open House, a social gathering held each year in conjunction with the Fire Department Instructors Conference which is attended by more than 20,000 fire fighters from around the world. Indy Pumper Pull competitors and spectators are invited to attend the Open House following the competition. |

Beech Grove Eagles, 712 Main Street. The Beech Grove Professional Firefighters Local 416 and the Beech Grove Eagles #4167 Raised $2,312 this night with the proceeds being split between the The Public Safety Scholarship Fund and the Elloit May MDA Fund. |

Mock
Disaster Drill (Click to see
pictures) Indiana Operation Lifesaver along with Amtrak and the Beech Grove Fire Department scheduled a mock disaster at the Beech Grove Amtrak Facility. The mock disaster drill consisted of a car trying to out run a train and they collide. The High School EMT Class assisted us, being dressed up as the patients for this incident. Other agencies were also requested to assist us, as part of our on going EMS Accreditation requirements. |
