Storm Water Info
Take our Storm Water Survey
Storm Water Hotline Now In Effect!
803-9092 during normal
business hours, Monday through Friday
Good news! Your city is cleaner than ever!
The City's new automated
trash pickup system is showing great results:
-
newly purchased totes already have contributed to
the additional cleanliness of Beech Grove
-
a 50% reduction of physical handling of trash by
city employees
-
expectations of fewer injuries during trash
collection.
In its efficiency evaluation of the automated system, the Public
Works Department determined the trash routes could be improved
further by going to a more compacted schedule.
The city has implement a
four-day-a-week trash pickup system (Tuesdays through Fridays) that
will allow for important, routine scheduled maintenance on the
vehicles.
Your trash will continue to be picked up on most holidays, with the
exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Residents
will be notified through The Southside Times, BGTV Cable Channel 28
and this web site of changes in the
schedule.
Please see the new pickup schedule on the above picture link or PDF
file link to determine your pickup date.

Tips to help prevent sanitary sewer
backups (pdf)
When
rain falls in Beech Grove, it runs off of rooftops, parking
lots, lawns and other surfaces into the city's stormwater
drainage system. Many parts of the city lack adequate storm
sewers and drainage, leading to standing water in yards and
flooded streets and basements.
Fats,
oils and grease are an unhealthy and expensive problem in
our city sewers. Do your part to comply with the law and
keep our sewers flowing.
Whether your home is connected to the sanitary sewer or a
combined sewer, it's important for you to have a Correct
Connect.
Each household or business that redirects stormwater out of
the sewer helps prevent sewage from backing up into our
basements or overflowing into our waterways. |
