CURBSIDE RECYCLING COMING TO BEECH GROVE (pdf) City endorses Ray’s Trash Service, Inc. In response to citizens’ request to provide curbside recycling, the City of Beech Grove has officially endorsed Ray’s Trash Service, Inc., as the vendor of choice for residents who want to “go green” in 2008. Beginning May 7, residents who have signed up with Ray’s can have their recyclables collected curbside on each Wednesday. Ray’s Trash Service is charging $51.36 per year for the weekly collection. Ray’s will mail explanatory fliers out to every household in Beech Grove, detailing the types of items they will collect, a list of frequently asked questions and answers and an explanation of how recycled products are reused. Citizens interested in joining the program or who have questions, should contact Ray’s at 539-2024 or visit their Web site: www.raystrash.com |

Beech Grove’s first-ever Comprehensive Plan It’s springtime, there’s new growth everywhere, including in our redevelopment arena with the creation of a major redevelopment tool – Beech Grove’s first-ever Comprehensive Plan. This important document will serve as the Redevelopment Commission’s roadmap for redevelopment plans and activities both now and in the future. This Plan is filled with the public input received over the past several months at workshops and meetings, along with best practices recommended by economic development/community planning professionals as these practices relate to Beech Grove’s specific needs and situations. We’re now in the home stretch of the approval and adoption process to put this redevelopment blueprint into place. As another opportunity for City Council and Redevelopment Commission members to ensure their understanding of the various elements of the Plan, four workshops are planned. These workshops on residential, industrial and commercial redevelopment issues as well as tax increment financing (TIF) are designed for the Council and Redevelopment Commission members, but also are open to the public. Here are the dates, times and topics for each workshop: Wednesday, May 14 Community Center in Room B from 6 – 8 p.m. Topic: Industrial redevelopment
Saturday, May 17 Community Center in Room B from 9 – 11 a.m. Topic: Commercial redevelopment
These meetings go beyond what is
statutorily required, with these workshops being offered as yet another
additional step towards ensuring community leaders and the public’s full
knowledge of what the Comp Plan is about and how it will be implemented to
benefit our community. |
